We are happy to invite you to a special event that will take place 25 September 2025 at the Friedrich-Schiller University in Jena and online.
From 9:00 – 17:30 we will hold the conference “(Re-)Imagining Interculturality: Relations, Complexities, and Digitality” together with the University Association for Intercultural Studies (IKS), Interculture.de, and the Junior Professorship Intercultural Practice with a Focus on Digital Cultures at the University of Technology Chemnitz. The academic conference brings together experts from research and practice to rethink intercultural competence, transcultural learning and cultural complexity in the context of global and post-digital upheavals. At the same time, the conference pays tribute to the work of Prof. Dr. Jürgen Bolten (1958-2023) as a pioneer and visionary of intercultural science. You can look forward to academic impulses, interdisciplinary dialog, time for an exchange of ideas and interaction

From 19:00 we will celebrate the inauguration of the new Centre for Digital Interculturality Studies which will serve as a research centre for national and international scholars in the field of Digital Intercultural Studies.

We would love to welcome you at the conference and inauguration. The event is partly funded by the German Federal Ministry of Research, Technology and Space (BMFTR) and participation is without charge.
