We can now look back on two stimulating and multifaceted conferences which we organised as part of the ReDICo team. On September 15 and 16, 2021, we held an extended panel on Intercultural Communication as part of the section meeting of the GAL (Gesellschaft für Angewandte Linguistik / Society for Applied Linguistics). Eleven speakers from international universities were guests at this online event and enriched the audience with papers on “Digital Intercultural Communication” viewed from three contexts or perspectives: “Business and Collaboration”, “Teaching and Learning” and “as a Connecting Link between Linguistics and Cultural Studies” .

On September 20, 2021, as part of the Intercultural Summer Academy at the Friedrich Schiller University of Jena – also online – our symposium “Interculturality in (post-) Digital Contexts” took place. The varied programme offered the more than 50 participants several workshops on dealing with aspects of  (post) digitality (see photo), as well as four paper presentations, including one by Professor Jürgen Bolten on the subject of “Scimification: Affective Entry into Holistic Virtual Learning Processes ”. Thanks to funding from the BMBF, we were able to offer this event free of charge to anyone interested in participating.

We recorded many of the papers presented and plan to make them available on our YouTube channel after some editing, allowing  anyone who was not able to attend the events to view the contributions. Further information will follow.
